Thank you to everyone who helped organize last Sunday’s Mass and Picnic in the Park and to all who helped us to give a public witness to the joy of our faith by participating in the Mass and picnic. Many hearts and hands were needed to prepare a gathering as large as this and we are grateful to all who pitched in to make it possible.
Next weekend we will welcome Fr. Mateo Zamora, O.S.B., to Christ the King for what is called “A Saint Meinrad Sunday.” Fr. Mateo will speak on the ministry of the Benedictine Monks at Saint Meinrad which includes the formation of future priests for the Archdiocese of Indianapolis and many dioceses around the country and the world. Each parish household will receive a mailing from Saint Meinrad with a letter from Archabbot Kurt Stasiak inviting us to prayerfully support the work of Saint Meinrad.
The King’s Court will host a one-day pilgrimage to Saint Meinrad Archabbey and Seminary on Wednesday, October 16. The King’s Court is our parish’s association of parishioners fifty-five and over who gather quarterly for Mass and lunch and enjoy pilgrimages and social events throughout the year. If you would like to reserve a place on the bus for the pilgrimage to Saint Meinrad, please call the Parish Office.
This coming weekend I will be away from the parish for the Men’s Fall Cursillo Weekend that will take place October 3-6, in Tipton, Indiana. Cursillo (pronounced cur-see-yo) is a lay movement of the Holy Spirit within the Catholic Church which helps Catholics to daily live out the call to holiness that was received in baptism. Please pray for the men who will be experiencing the retreat and the team that will present the weekend.
The Women’s Cursillo Weekend will take place October 17-20. Weekends are held each fall and spring. Parishioners who would like to know more about Cursillo or who would like to make a Cursillo Weekend are invited to contact parishioner, Kelly DeSchryver, who serves as Christ the King’s Parish Coordinator. Archbishop Thompson has asked me to serve as the Indianapolis Archdiocese’s Spiritual Adviser to the Central Indiana Cursillo Movement, which I am happy to do. De Colores!
See you at Mass!
