Thank you to Dr. Timothy and Margie Heck for offering our parish married couples a 'faith-lift" last Saturday, just in time for Valentine's Day! Dr. Heck has served as a marriage and family counselor for over thirty years and during that time he often meets with couples at crisis points in their marriages. With the wealth of experience he has gained through his practice, he has written and speaks on ways to strengthen and nurture healthy marriages.
One of the ways of strengthening intimacy in marriage that Dr. Heck suggested is the simple act of praying together. Sharing joys and hopes and struggles together in prayer strengthens the bonds of love between couples. Thank you to Cindy Flaten for organizing this evening of marriage enrichment for parish couples and thank you to the wonderful ladies who helped decorate the hall and serve the meal. Special thanks to the couples who attended the evening.
Among those attending were couples whose marriages ranged from one week to fifty plus years! May God bless all married couples of Christ the King!
The first three Tuesdays of March we will resume "Tuesdays With Father." We will use Bishop Robert Barron's inspiring video on the Eucharist to reflect on different aspects of the gift of the Eucharist. While the Eucharist is at the center of our life and prayer as Catholics, studies often show that Catholics are unaware of the height and depth and breadth of God's love that is contained in the Eucharist. The Catechism of the Catholic Church teaches us that in the Eucharist is contained the Church's great treasure which is Jesus himself. A large screen television has recently been installed in the Saint Joseph Meeting Room to facilitate our faith formation gatherings.
Please continue to pray for all who are preparing to encounter Jesus in the sacraments of our Church. Among these are our RCIA candidates, our high schooi candidates for confirmation, our second graders anxiously awaiting their First Holy Communion and our engaged couples preparing for the Sacrament of Matrimony.
See you at Mass - no excuses!
