Congratulations to all of our parish sons and daughters who are celebrating graduations in these days! As new chapters open in their lives, we pray that they may experience God’s abundant blessings. Next Sunday, June 2, we will recognize our high school graduates at the 11:30 am Mass. Parish sons and daughters graduating from area high schools are encouraged to wear their caps and gowns to Mass and enter to the sounds of ‘Pomp and Circumstance’. Congratulations, graduates!
The end of the school year means that our annual Summer Social is quickly approaching! We will welcome thousands of friends and neighbors to Christ the King Friday, June 21 and Saturday, June 22. This past weekend Kent Campbell and Tony Felts shared with us ways in which we can make this year’s Summer Social a great success. Chief among these is the purchase of raffle tickets for the 50/50 drawing and bringing family, friends and neighbors to the Summer Social. This year the Evangelization Team will have a booth at the Summer Social with information about our Catholic faith and about our parish community. See you at the social!
With the risk of sounding like a broken record, please make sure you have scheduled a time to have your picture taken for the Parish Pictorial Directory. Pictures will be taken from May 28-June 15. The parish publishes a Pictorial Directory only once every five years. The directory serves as an important resource for knowing and caring for one another and is an important historical record of parish life. In the last months more than 100 new households have joined our parish community. The directory won’t be complete without you! Thank you to all who have signed up to serve as hosts and hostesses during the times in which pictures will be taken.
Next week we will welcome Ben Popson to Christ the King. Ben is a seminarian at Bishop Simon Brute College Seminary and entering his senior year at Marian University. Ben will spend the summer months with us. I know that he will find a warm welcome.
Congratulations to Monsignor Tony Volz! Monsignor Tony has been named the Spiritual Director of Bishop Simon Brute College Seminary. It is a key position in the Archdiocese and recognition of Monsignor Tony’s considerable pastoral and spiritual gifts. May Monsignor Tony help form good and holy priests for the Church!
See you at Mass!
