On this Solemnity of Corpus Christi, we thank all of our parishioners who serve as Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion at Mass and those who take Holy Communion to the homebound and those in nursing homes. Those who fulfill this important ministry to the parish are being commissioned by the Church for this service at all of the Masses this weekend.
Thank you to the parishioners who submitted their names in nomination for service on our Parish Pastoral Council. On Pentecost Sunday members of the Council gathered for prayer and then, trusting in the wisdom and guidance of the Holy Spirit, two names were drawn by lot. Parishioners Ellen Schmidt and David Harpe were chosen for this important service to the parish community. Thank you to Jody Bruce and Shannen Priser who are completing their term of service on the Council. Jody and Shannen have generously shared their time and talent with the parish community and we are grateful to them and all of the members of the Pastoral Council.
Thank you to everyone who contributed to the purchase of the Saint Joseph statue for the Adoration Chapel. The statue was blessed on Father’s Day and is dedicated to the living and deceased fathers and grandfathers of Christ the King Parish. Special thanks to the Adoration Committee for undertaking this project and to Tom Hornbach and Tim Dyar for constructing the base on which the statue stands.
Tom also constructed a shelf to hold the book for volunteers to bring up the gifts at our weekend Masses. The shelf is located in the back of church near the table that holds the bread and wine that are brought to the altar. Two parishioners are needed to offer this service at Mass. Husbands and wives, friends, and families are encouraged to volunteer by signing up for the Mass at which they would like to carry the gifts. While two people are needed, families and groups with more than two people are always welcome.
Please remember that the “For the Good of the Parish” box is located at the Welcome Desk in the main vestibule of the Church. This box allows parishioners to communicate with the Pastoral Council by offering suggestions to improve parish life and also an opportunity to recognize and affirm good things that are taking place at Christ the King. The suggestions and comments that are placed in the box are read and discussed each month at the Pastoral Council meetings.
See you at Mass!
