The final weeks of the school year are always a busy and exciting time. It has been a great year at Christ the King Catholic School and we thank Mr. Seib and Mrs. Wenclewicz, our teachers and staff for all they do in support of the ministry of Catholic education. Wednesday, May 22, the Eighth Grade Class of 2019 will graduate from Christ the King. Congratulations to our graduates!
In recognition of Mr. Seib’s leadership of our parish school, the Pastoral Council and the School Commission have declared Monday, May 13, as “Mr. Seib Day” at Christ the King. Please join the students and staff in thanking Mr. Seib for all he does to make Christ the King Catholic School a great place to be and to grow!
Sunday, June 16, is Father’s Day. This year we will honor the living and deceased fathers, stepfathers and grandfathers of Christ the King Parish in a very special way. On Father’s Day we will dedicate a statue of Saint Joseph, patron saint of fathers. The statue will be placed in the Adoration Chapel, opposite the statue of the Blessed Mother that was dedicated some years ago in memory of Paul Sterger. If you would like to help pay for the cost of the Saint Joseph Statue in memory of a father, stepfather or grandfather, envelopes are available in the main vestibule of the church. The suggested donation is $10.00. Thank you to our Adoration Committee for this beautiful initiative to recognize and honor some of the unsung heroes among us.
In preparation for Father’s Day, beginning next weekend, we will also pray together a special prayer to Joseph at all of our Masses as we ask him to intercede for our families and for the Universal Church. Saint Joseph, pray for us!
We are delighted that Seminarian Ben Popson from Bishop Simon Brute College Seminary has been assigned to Christ the King for pastoral ministry this summer. Ben will join us early in June and will be a welcome presence at parish activities. His time among us will be a reminder to continue to pray for vocations and also a reminder to thank God for the men and women who are currently discerning vocations to service in the Church. Welcome, Ben!
The new assignments of priests within the Archdiocese will be announced in the coming days. Among those being assigned will be Deacon Timothy DeCrane and Deacon Vinny Gilmore who will be ordained to the priesthood on Saturday, June 1. Let us pray for Timothy and Vinny as they begin their priestly service and for all priests and parishes who will experience transitions in the coming weeks.
See you at Mass!
