February 14th is Saint Valentine’s Day. According to legend, Saint Valentine was a third century priest who was beheaded by the Emperor Claudius for marrying Christian couples at a time when Christianity itself was outlawed in the Roman Empire. Together with Saint Agnes, he is the patron saints of engaged couples and those in love.
In preparation for Saint Valentine’s Day, Tim and Margie Heck will offer an evening of reflection on the Sacrament of Matrimony next Saturday, February 8, after the 5:00 p.m. Mass. All married couples of the parish are welcome and encouraged to take advantage of this beautiful opportunity to celebrate the great gift of married love. Dr. Heck is the author of two beautiful books on marriage and Margie Heck is a former teacher at Christ the King. Tuey are in great demand as speakers at parishes throughout the Archdiocese as they share their experience of growing in love and finding God in that love. Couples who are just recently married and couples who have lived the Sacrament of Matrimony for decades are invited to give their marriage a gift this Valentine’s Day by participating in what promises to be beautiful evening of reflection at Christ the King.
