It’s official – summer has begun! While June 21st was the first day of summer, we all know that it’s not really official until the Summer Social! Thank you to all who lent hearts and hands and muscle to this year’s social. A very special word of thanks to Aaron Morrow and the leadership team he led so well!
Hopefully everyone will find some time to sit back and take in the beauty of the summer season and recharge mental and spiritual batteries. While the ‘lazy, hazy days of summer’ may be a thing of the past, let us use the season to take in the majesty of God’s creation and appreciate the families and friends with whom we are privileged to share this wonderful world in which we live.
Next weekend we will host Fr. Joseph Nelson, OFM, for the second of this year’s Mission Appeals. Fr. Joe is a Franciscan priest of the Province of Our Lady of Guadalupe which ministers to Navajo, Pueblo and Hispanic peoples in the Southwestern United States. I know that Father Joe will receive a warm welcome to Christ the King and generous support for the missionary work of our Church.
I will take advantage of Fr. Joe’s visit to enjoy a week’s vacation July 7-13 in the ‘vacation capital of the Midwest’ which is, of course, Terre Haute! There will be daily Masses on Saturday, July 7, and Tuesday, July 10, of that week, but not on Monday, Wednesday or Friday. The usual Communion Services will be available on those days.
Finally, I want to thank everyone for your faithful support of Christ the King. That support comes in many ways – beginning with full, active and conscious participation with the community in Sunday Mass. Everything we do as a parish flows from what we do on Sunday.. Our support of Christ the King is also financial and, as we come to the end of the fiscal year we end the year with a very small gap between what was projected for Sunday collections and our actual Sunday collections. Thank you for your faithful support of this parish that is our home!
See you at Mass!
