Christ the King’s Summer Social 2019 is now in the history books. By all accounts it was a great success thanks to the hard work of Chairperson Kent Campbell and the amazing crew that came together to offer our community this annual kick-off to summer extravaganza. Both nights we enjoyed good weather which brought out large crowds. Thank you to all who helped set-up for the Summer Social, those who helped during the event and those who helped with the tear down and clean-up. It takes a parish to put on a Summer Social and Christ the King was clearly up to the task!
This past Thursday we celebrated the 243rd anniversary of America’s independence. America, like any country, has its flaws, but it is still a beacon of hope to the rest of the world. We must continually strive to live up to the high ideals of the Declaration of Independence, but we must also thank God for the freedoms and possibilities he has given us as Americans. In the political climate in which we live, there are those who see America as responsible for all that is wrong in the world. How unfair to our history and how unfair to Americans today. We need to cultivate a healthy patriotism that does not ignore our mistakes, but also one that does not overlook the tremendous force for good that America has been and continues to be. Having lived in many parts of the world, I have always enjoyed the love of country that people of other nations display in spite of living in political and social systems that are much more flawed than ours. May God bless America!
Thanks to the great generosity of our parishioners, we have finished the Fiscal Year that ended June 30 with a slight surplus in the amount that was budgeted for Sunday collections and the actual amount collected. Thank you for your faithful support of Christ the King and the ministries of our parish!
See you at Mass!
