Dear friends,
Thank you to all who participated in last Monday’s Town Hall Meeting at which we reflected on the qualities and behaviors that mark the lives of disciples of Jesus. Our reflections will be shared at a deanery-wide Town Hall Meeting and then combined with those of the 130 parishes of the Archdiocese. The result will be an evangelization tool in which we will share with others the joy of being disciples. Thank you to our parish Evangelization Team for hosting the Town Hall.
On the third Sunday of each month our parish holds an extended period of Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament. From 2:00 p.m. on Sunday afternoon until 7:00 a.m. on Monday morning the Blessed Sacrament is exposed on the altar in the Adoration Chapel. Parishioners throughout that time are invited to spend time in prayer before the Blessed Sacrament. At 8:00 p.m. a rosary for peace is held. Beginning in March the intention of the rosary will become a ‘rosary for healing’. We will pray for the physical and spiritual healing of members of our families and our parish and for the spiritual healing of our Church, our country and our world. Please mark your calendar for Sunday, March 17, for Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament and our parish rosary for healing.
Ash Wednesday is only nine days away! The Church’s great season of renewal is almost here. While we are always in need of renewal and conversion, perhaps this year, more than ever before, we can feel the need for this renewal and conversion. Now is the time to reflect on our Lenten Resolutions. The traditional practices of prayer, fasting and almsgiving help to lead us to this renewal and conversion.
Participating in our parish’s Lenten Scripture Study on the Biblical Roots of the Mass would be a great Lenten resolution that would lead us to a greater appreciation of the gift of the Mass in our lives. Participating as a family with parents and junior and senior high school age sons and daughters would make for a very special Lent for parish families. The Bible Study begins this Monday evening, February 25.
See you at Mass!
