Last weekend we resumed the celebration of public weekend Masses at Christ the King! Thank you to those who served as greeters, ushers, lectors and musicians at the Masses, and to Dave Thompson and Karen Alley for sanitizing the church between Masses. It was a 'soft' opening with 30 to 55 people at the different Masses. We were able to implement the various protocols to ensure the safety of parishioners and, at the same time, to celebrate Mass as a community.
Little by little, we are returning to a full sacramental life. During the past three weeks, daily Masses have been celebrated, the Sacrament of Reconciliation has been available at different times throughout the week, Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament has taken place, the church has been open several hours each day for personal prayer, the first baptism since the pandemic dosed the church on March 17 has taken place, funeral Masses have once again been celebrated in church and the first wedding, since the closing of the church to the public in March, is scheduled to be celebrated in July.
Restrictions on taking Holy Communion to home-bound parishioners and to parishioners who are not yet comfortable gathering in a large group at Sunday Mass have now been lifted. If you would like to receive Holy Communion at home, please call us at the parish office (317 255-3666) and Deacon Michael will be happy to make a pastoral visit.
This weekend, the Feast of Corpus Christi, we will celebrate the weekend Masses at 5:00 pm on Saturday and at 8:00 am., 10:00 am. and 12:00 pm. on Sunday. The 8:00 am Mass will be celebrated outside in the parking lot, weather permitting. While there will be space for cars, parishioners, who do not have difficulty walking, are asked to park outside of the parking lot. At the 12:00 pm Mass this weekend, two candidates for full communion with the Catholic Church will be joyfully received into the Church.
This coming week outdoor Masses will be celebrated, Monday through Friday, at 8:30 am The Sacrament of Reconciliation will be available on Saturday, June 20, from 7:00 - 8:00 pm, and on Sunday, June 21, from 2:00 -4:00 pm. Also, next Sunday, June 21, the Blessed Sacrament will be exposed on the altar in the main sanctuary of the church from 2:00 - 5:00 pm. Benediction of the Blessed Sacrament will take place at 5:00 pm with special prayers for racial justice and reconciliation in our country.
Little by little, by God's grace, we are returning to a full sacrament life at Christ the King! Dare I say, "See you at Mass?"
In God's love, Fr. Todd
