It was a joy to welcome Fr. Steve Jarrell home to Christ the King last weekend! I am grateful to Fr. Steve for celebrating several Masses while I was at a Men’s Cursillo Retreat in Tipton, Indiana. As everyone could see, Fr. Steve is enjoying retirement, but also staying very busy. Let us keep Fr. Steve, Fr. Bonke and all of our retired priests in prayer. We thank God for their generous service to the Church.
As we pray for our retired priests, we also pray for the gift of vocations to the priesthood. We pray that our parish of Christ the King will be blessed with vocations. Please mark your calendars for Sunday, November 5, when we will hold our next Holy Hour for Vocations from 5:00 pm – 6:00 pm. We all have a vested interest in praying for vocations and we all have a responsibility to pray for this gift for our Church. During Fr. Tom Widner’s recent visit to CTK to speak about Bishop Simon Brute College Seminary, we heard that God is answering our prayers as this year the seminary has a record number of college-age men discerning a vocation to the priesthood. May the Master of the Harvest send many workers into His fields and may some of those workers be from among the good and generous youth of CTK.
Thank you to everyone who participated in our first-ever PinT Night last Sunday evening. This new initiative is a collaboration between our School Commission and our Faith Formation Commission. Growing in our faith is a life-long adventure. Opportunities like PinT Night are wonderful occasions for adult parishioners to join together in an informal setting to grow in the love of our faith. Thank you to theologian Tim O’Malley for making the journey from Notre Dame to lead us in a deeper appreciation of the Mass and thank you to Bier Brewery for allowing us to host PinT Night at the brewery. Watch upcoming bulletins for information about our next PinT Night!
It is our hope to resurrect a very special parish group that serves the needs and interests of our senior CTK parishioners. Many years ago The King’s Court was established to offer retired and soon-to-be-retired parishioners opportunities to come together for social, spiritual and service activities. Parishioners who would like to serve on a steering committee to help resurrect the King’s Court are invited to an organizational meeting on Tuesday, October 24, at 1:00 pm at the Parish Office. Let us harness the energies of one the true powerhouses at CTK!
May we all enjoy God’s handiwork during this beautiful season of the year!
See you at Mass!
