Our parish family of Christ the King is blessed in many ways. Chief among these blessings are the faithful parishioners who from the founding of the parish in 1939 to the present time have made Christ the King the welcoming, caring, faith-filled Catholic parish that it is today. Our parish has been and continues to be a true ‘community’ of faith in the Broad Ripple neighborhood of Indianapolis.
We are blessed, as well, with beautiful facilities. From the construction of the first of our parish buildings, the rectory, to the building of Tuohy Hall, the last of our parish buildings to be erected, parishioners have sacrificed to provide the parish with the facilities necessary to house the ministries that are part and parcel of the life of the parish.
An old axiom states: “We build the buildings and then the buildings build us.” That is certainly true of the buildings, old and new, that make up the campus of Christ the King. If these walls could talk, imagine the wonderful stories of prayer, laughter, service and love that they would tell!
As the updating of the parish offices comes to its completion, we will host a parish-wide open house on the weekend of August 18-19. The office and all of the parish facilities will be open to parishioners following each of the Masses that weekend. The facilities belong to all of us and the open house will be an opportunity to see and, hopefully, take pride in the buildings that make up our parish home. In addition to the newly-renovated offices, parishioners are welcome to visit the rectory, the school building, Tuohy Hall, the meeting rooms that connect Tuohy Hall and the school and our Youth Center.
The open house is meant to foster a sense of gratitude and ownership among all of the parishioners of Christ the King as we thank God for the beautiful facilities that we enjoy and commit ourselves to care for them in such a way that they will serve the People of God for generations to come.
See you at Mass!
