This weekend our parish family gathers for a Mass and Picnic in the park. It is a wonderful opportunity for us to celebrate the bonds we share at Christ the King. We are a parish of 1200 households and it is impossible for any of us to know each and every parishioner. Most of us know some of the people from the weekend Mass we regularly attend and most of us know a group of parishioners from the different ministries in which we participate. But at least once a year it is good for us to come all together to celebrate the Eucharist and to share a meal all together. Today is the day!
We hope that the Mass and Picnic in the Park will become an annual event and that it will also be a ‘Homecoming’ celebration for parishioners who have moved away from the parish or parishioners who may not be with us regularly at Sunday Mass. We also hope that it will be an opportunity for us to witness to our faith in the Broad Ripple area as we gather in such a public place as Broad ripple Park.
We owe a big debt of gratitude to the organizers of the Mass and Picnic in the Park. It is co-sponsored by our parish Stewardship Commission and our School Commission’s Parish Engagement Committee. A wonderful group of parishioners has been working behind the scenes for many weeks to make it all happen. Thank you to all of the organizers!
May we carry the very special spirit of today’s Mass and Picnic with us as we continue to live and grow in our faith as a parish family!
See you at Mass!
