An old adage tells us, “Time flies when you are having fun.” If that is true, we are having a whole lot of fun because time is truly flying. The year is half over and the Hallmark Channel is airing its ‘Christmas in July’ programs to remind us that Christmas is just six months away!
Preparations are underway for the new school year that will begin at Bishop Chatard on Wednesday, August 8, and at Christ the King on Thursday, August 9. Talk about a reality check!
While we may be tempted to lament that summer is passing so quickly, we would all do well to enjoy the remaining days of summer and to use them well.
The beginning of a new school year does, in fact, mark an ‘unofficial’ end of summer, but we at Christ the King are determined to enjoy summer until the very end! We will mark the ‘official’ end of summer with a parish-wide Mass and Picnic in the Park on Sunday, September 16. We will enjoy an outdoor Mass at Broad Ripple Park at 11:00 a.m. and will spend time together at a picnic lunch and games following the Mass. Please mark your calendars for this very special opportunity to come together as a parish family. Hopefully the Mass and Picnic in the Park will give us something to look forward to as we continue to enjoy the beautiful summer season. It’s not over until it’s over!
Thank you for your kindness to Fr. Joe Nelson during his visit to Christ the King for the mission Appeal July 7-8. Fr. Joe was impressed by the spirit of the parish and grateful for the hospitality extended to him. Thank you also for your generous contributions to the missionary work of the Franciscans of Our Lady of Guadalupe Province.
See you at Mass!
