This week the King’s Court will meet on Tuesday, February 13, for Mass at 11:00 a.m. and a pitch-in luncheon to follow. Fr. Steve Jarrell will be our welcome guest at the Mass and luncheon. Fr. Steve will share with us his early experiences of ‘retirement’ and the many ways by which retired priests continue to serve the Church. We will also discuss activities planned for our senior parishioners and will begin accepting registrations for the upcoming pilgrimage to the Shrine of Christ’s Passion in Saint John, Indiana, on Monday, April 9. Parishioners who are in need of transportation are asked to call the parish office. All are welcome!
Wednesday, April 14, is Ash Wednesday. Ashes will be distributed at the Masses celebrated that day at 8:30 a.m. and 6:00 p.m. Ashes will also be distributed at Communion Services on Ash Wednesday at 7:00 a.m., 7:30 a.m., 8:00 a.m. and at 12:00 p.m.
Ash Wednesday marks the beginning of Lent and the Church’s annual preparation for the celebration of Easter, the greatest of all Christian feasts. The Season of Lent culminates in the three holiest days of our Church Year: Holy Thursday, Good Friday and the Easter Vigil.
At the Easter Vigil and the Masses of Easter Sunday we will renew our baptismal promises. The focus of Lent is baptismal in nature as it is the final period of preparation for the sacraments of initiation for the men and women of the RCIA.
This Sunday afternoon our catechumens and candidates will be presented to Archbishop Thompson at the Cathedral of Saints Peter and Paul in the Rite of Election. Their names will be entered in the Book of the Elect and the Church chooses or ‘elects’ them for the celebration of the Easter Sacraments at this year’s Easter Vigil Please keep these brothers and sisters and our RCIA Team in prayer during these important weeks.
See you at Mass!
