Two words and two words only: Parish Mission.
By now you know me and you know that two words are never enough! But these two words - Parish Mission- are very important words for all of us at Christ the King. Next weekend Deacons Eddie Ensley and Robert Herrmann will be with us at all of the weekend Masses to speak about our Parish Mission and to invite everyone to be a part of this parish-wide event.
We extend our thanks to Cindy Flaten and our Faith Formation Commission for the work that has been done to prepare for our Parish Mission. We also extend a very special thank you to Deacons Eddie and Robert for fitting us into what is a very busy Easter Season for them. They travel the country providing parish communities with the opportunity for spiritual renewal. We are delighted to welcome the deacons to Christ the King!
Because of the importance of the Parish Mission, all other evening events are suspended during the three days of the Mission to allow everyone, young and old, to participate. Family, friends and neighbors are all invited to join us April 23, 24, and 25. The last evening of the Mission a social will be held in Monsignor Tuohy Hall to allow us to celebrate and strengthen the bonds of faith and friendship that we share.
The Easter Season will culminate with the great Feast of Pentecost on May 20. Pentecost is the fulfillment of Jesus’ promise to not leave us as orphans, but to send us a helper and an advocate. That helper is the Holy Spirit, the Third Person of the Blessed Trinity and the bond of love that unites the Father and the Son perfectly as one. The Feast of Pentecost marks the birth of the Church.
Two important parish events are linked to Pentecost this year. On that day we will draw the names of two CTK parishioners to serve as at-large members of the Parish Pastoral Council. Self-nomination forms are available in the vestibule of the church. Parishioners who feel called to offer this service to the parish are asked to fill out a form and place it in the box that is provided in the vestibule. After prayer to the Holy Spirit, two names from those submitted will be drawn on Pentecost Sunday. Prayerfully consider this service to the parish community.
Stewardship Forms are now available on line at the parish website and in the vestibule of the church. We ask all parishioners to fill out a Stewardship Form by Pentecost Sunday as we share our gifts of time, talent and treasure with one another to build up that part of the Body of Christ that is Christ the King Parish.
See you at Mass!
