Thank you to everyone who donated blood at the parish Blood Drive last Sunday. The response was wonderful and it is still one more sign of the incredible generosity of the people of Christ the King. I see that generosity in so many ways and I am inspired by it. One of the constant reminders of the generosity of our parishioners is the food that is brought to church each weekend to be distributed at the area food pantries. The very large cart that holds these donations of food is filled to overflowing almost every weekend! Thank you for your great generosity!
Our Summer Social is only a week away! I am looking forward to what will be my first experience of what has been a long and venerable tradition at Christ the King. We will have the privilege of welcoming many, many people to the parish next weekend. The Summer Social is not only a ‘parish’ event but an event that is part of the social fabric of the Broad Ripple neighborhood as we kick-off the summer season. Thank you to Aaron Morrow to all who have accepted leadership positions to organize the Social and thank you to all parishioners who have volunteered to work. As Aaron told us this past weekend, the 50/50 raffle is one of the main sources of revenue for the parish from the Social and so thank you to all who have bought and sold tickets for the 50/50 Raffle.
As members of Christ the King we are all commissioned to be ‘Ministers of Hospitality’ to those who join us for the Social. Let us make sure that all who step foot on the parish grounds are welcomed and treated with kindness and respect. For many of our visitors this may be the only contact they have with the Catholic Church and with our parish. May we all represent our faith and the parish well in all that we do and say as we enjoy the Summer Social and as we welcome and care for all who will join us.
See you at the Summer Social – and at Mass!
