Thank you to everyone who returned a pledge card for this year’s United Catholic Appeal. Whether it is a pledge of one dollar a month or ten dollars a month, every gift is important. The success of the appeal is measured in two ways. Each parish is a given a goal. If each parish meets that goal, the goal of the United Catholic Appeal is met for the Archdiocese and the needs of the many ministries the United Catholic Appeal supports are met. The goal that has been set for Christ the King Parish this year is $127,320.00.
The success of the United Catholic Appeal is also measured by the percentage of Catholics who participate in the appeal. The greater the participation, the greater the success of the appeal.
While I trust that we will meet our financial goal this year, the second goal that measures participation is the one that is most important to me. The greater the participation of the parish, the greater the health of a parish. We all know that Christ the King is a healthy parish and so we depend on everyone’s participation.
Parishioners who have not yet returned a pledge card can still do so by returning the card to the Parish Office or by dropping it in the regular collection basket at any of our Sunday Masses. The Archdiocese will keep us informed as to the success of the appeal throughout the Archdiocese and at Christ the King. Thank you for your generosity!
Next weekend we will conclude the Church Year with the Feast of Christ the King. It is our patronal feast as a parish community. The Blessed Sacrament will be exposed from 12:30 p.m. - 5:00 p.m. Each parish family is asked to spend 15 minutes or more in prayer before the Blessed Sacrament on this special day for our parish. At 5:00 p.m. we will gather for Evening Prayer and Benediction of the Blessed Sacrament. We will then gather in Tuohy Hall for a ‘dessert exchange’. Parishioners are invited to bring a favorite dessert to share. We will each take home desserts to enjoy as a sign of the ‘sweet things’ we share as a parish community. Please don’t miss this important event in the life of our parish!
Congratulations to our parish seminarian, Michael Prakasam! Michael declared his desire to be ordained a transitional deacon in preparation for the ordination to the priesthood. His request was accepted by the Church at the Rite of Candidacy celebrated at Saint Meinrad on Thursday, November 8. We look forward to welcoming Michael home to Christ the King for Thanksgiving. Friday, November 21st, is Michael’s birthday. We wish him a very happy one!
See you at Mass
