Each year during the month of November Catholics throughout the Archdiocese of Indianapolis join together to support the many ministries of the Archdiocese through the United Catholic Appeal. The United Catholic Appeal supports the work of the Church in central and southern Indiana and provides the money necessary to support ministries from which we all benefit such as the central offices of the Archdiocese and ministries that are much larger than any one parish.
The central offices of the Archdiocese provide Archbishop Thompson with the support he needs to serve as the Chief Shepherd of the Archdiocese and provide parishes with support for many parish ministries such as Catholic schools, faith formation, evangelization and legal services.
The United Catholic Appeal also provides for the needs of the retired priests of the Archdiocese, the formation of our seminarians and permanent deacons and the charitable outreach of the Church through Catholic Charities.
The Archdiocesan goal for this year’s United Catholic Appeal is 6.5 million dollars. Each parish is assigned a goal to help meet the Archdiocese meet this goal. The goal set for Christ the King is $122,448.
Each parish household has received a letter from Archbishop Thompson and a brochure describing the many ministries that are made possible through our contributions to the United Catholic Appeal. The mailing also included a pledge card. We are asked to prayerfully consider a contribution to this year’s appeal and then return the pledge card to the parish. Pledge cards can be placed in the offering basket at Sunday Mass or returned to the Parish Office.
Next weekend additional pledge cards will be available in the pews and we will take a few minutes before Mass begins to allow parishioners who have not yet completed a card to do so.
Thank you for your support of the Church and the many ministries of the Archdiocese that are made possible through a generous pledge to the United Catholic Appeal.
See you at Mass!
