Last Saturday we had the joy of welcoming Archbishop Thompson to our 5:00 pm liturgy. Thank you to all who joined in the prayer and to all who participated in the reception in Tuohy Hall following Mass. Special thanks to Cindy Stansberry, Cathy Ford, Barb Gushrowski, Sarah Dilts and Marita Meith of our parish Hospitality Committee for hosting the reception and offering a warm welcome to everyone.
At this time of year the Priest Personnel Board is meeting to make recommendations to the Archbishop regarding the assignment of priests. New assignments take effect each year at twelve noon on the first Wednesday of July. The Archbishop noted that this year there are eleven fewer priests in active ministry than just one year ago. Three priests have died, four will retire in July and three have been removed from ministry. Two men will be ordained to the priesthood on June 1. It is a strong reminder to pray for vocations. Let us never tire of asking God for the gift of vocations from our parish family of Christ the King.
As Lent marches on, we look forward to the upcoming North Deanery Penance Services. At these services at least ten priests will be available to celebrate the Sacrament of Reconciliation. The first of the Lenten Penance Services will take place at Saint Simon Parish at 2:00 pm next Sunday, April 7. The second Penance Service will be held at Saint Lawrence Parish on Monday, April 8, at 7:00 pm and the third and final Lenten Penance Service will be held at Saint Lawrence on Tuesday, April 9 at 7:00 pm. Please take advantage of one of these times to encounter the great mercy of God.
We wish all who are enjoying Spring Break this week safe and restful days! For those who are traveling, remember to bring a bulletin home with you.
See you at Mass!
