Inspired by Gospel values, the Society of St. Vincent de Paul, a Catholic lay organization, invites women and men to join together to grow spiritually by offering person-to-person service to the needy and suffering in the tradition of its founder, Frederic Ozanam, and patron, St. Vincent de Paul.

As a reflection of the whole family of God, members, known as Vincentians, are drawn from every ethnic and cultural background, age group, and economic level. Vincentians are united in an international society of charity by their spirit of poverty, humility, and sharing, and are nourished by prayer and reflection, mutually supportive gatherings, and adherence to a basic Rule. Organized locally, Vincentians witness God’s love by embracing all works of charity and justice.

The Christ the King Conference of St. Vincent de Paul supports the needy of our parish and community through direct contribution of money, food, blankets, donated items, volunteerism, and spiritual support. We work closely with the Archdiocesan Council and with other parish conferences in relieving need. Examples of activities performed by our parish Conference consists of visiting the homes of the client to evaluate their needs, working at the warehouse, the Client Choice Food Pantry or the St. Thomas Food Pantry in various capacities, answering phones calls for the needy or for incoming donation pickup, and organizing food and kitchen item donation drives.

Become a Mentor! Help Change a Life.
The Christ the King/St. Lawrence Changing Lives Forever program sponsored by St. Vincent DePaul is reaching the midway point with graduation scheduled in early November. Thank you to everyone who has contributed to the success of this life-changing program.

Graduates of Changing Lives Forever will need a listening ear and encouragement as they begin making changes in their lives to overcome poverty.  Women and men are needed to work one-on-one with a graduate 4-6 hours a month. Training, resource materials and ongoing support will be provided to help mentors in their role of empowering others.  Come to an information session on Wednesday, September 12th  at 6:00 PM to learn more. The meeting will be held at Immaculate Heart of Mary Parish in the Gathering Space.

Changing Lives Forever is a 16- week class to help individuals living in poverty to find resources and develop a plan to improve the quality of their lives.  Contact Molly Cripe at 317-730-3243, or Diane Powers at 317 698-5679 or Beth Groves at 317-842-7663 with questions.
